Make a mark on the nut and the diff where they meet, blast it loose with an impact, count the number of turns as you take it off. Remove old seal and replace, ensuring to lube the sealing surface (the lip) with oil before installing. Put nut back on, counting your turns going on. You should know how much you have left to do to tighten with impact so the marks line back up. I seem to recall the 230 TT diff has a crush sleeve, you don't want to crank it down any further. Don't think the 200 NA diff has one. Hopefully someone can chime in on this.
