Message I have Sumitomo HTZ III's on the Z that sees the most use. A great summer wet and dry tire that is very predicable in both rain and shine and has a nice treadwear life. Good price as well.

My higher performance Z has Michelin Sport Pilots that are simply outstanding dry and very good in the wet. Lower treadwear and much higher price.

I try to match treadwear to auto use. I want to replace the tires at least every five years (learned that on motorcycles) regardless of how much tread is still on the tire or even if they look "good". I have no use for dry, crunchy, cracked tires on any vehicle I own. Who cares if a tire had a treadwear of 80 if you are only going to use it a couple thousand miles a year? In five years it's toast anyway so who cares if the tire has zero miles or 100k miles left in it at the time of replacement?? Of course, for my higher use Z the Sumitomos easily last the 15-25k that I put on that car over five years.

BTW, EVERY high performance tire that I have ever used (both auto and motorcycle) is deadly in cold (<45f) weather regardless of make or speed rating (note that I have never used a high performance winter rated tire). When high performance summer tires get cold they get twitchy as hell and are completely unpredictable. All the training, experience, and hardware (coil-overs, roll bars, BBK) will not save you if your control inputs are routed through unpredictable tires.
