| I've had a problem with grey smoke puffs when I let off the gas when boosting. I am preparing to pull the engine because I felt sure the driver's side turbo is done. Last year I pulled the exhaust and saw a little pool of oil in the down pipe at the seam. When I posted about it here, one of the members told me that it may be a broken ring and I should do a compression test first. Made perfect sense to me. If the engine is coming out anyway, I may as well make sure I take care of everything necessary. Fast forward several months of not driving the car, and I'm finally ready to get started. The battery is fully charged and I left a charger on it at 15amps. Balance tube removed, spark plugs out and warmed up for 30 minutes. Temperature 64 degrees. I had my wife hold the gas pedal to the floor and turn the key. Results starting from the passenger side front to back, then the driver side front to back (results corrected for altitude 3,500' @ 0.903): 146 psi 144 psi 144 psi 144 psi 141 psi ***55 psi ***.......uh oh. Added a teaspoon of oil to the last cylinder and it brought the result up to 64 psi. Please give me your thoughts. Valves, rings or head gasket? Thanks for your help.
