Message Exactly! This is all starting to make a lot more sense now.

Another reason could be that is was a lot more expensive to change out two components on the vehicle, the rotor and wheel(because the little 16" stock wheels dont work with the bigger rotors) rather than just one, the caliper.

Because having to allow for a new wheel to be made for the car would have been expensive, not a risk nissan was probably willing to take especially in that recession for japan.

They opted for a denser iron caliper and nissan knew that iron was cheaper and with the bad recession at the time in japan it must have seemed like the best option to bandaid the brake issues.

This was a very good discussion and honestly I think it should VTF for others wondering the difference between the two.

I am going to stick with the aluminum calipers and run a 13" baer 2 piece drilled and slotted rotor z1 sells. I also think I am going to buy the project mu piston kit for the front and back. If I go through with it I will make sure to do a review.

Some other brake components I am adding are
-carbotech brake pads for the front and rear
-stainless steel brake lines
-300 degree master cylinder brace
-Royalty Performance rear 330mm brake rotor upgrade
