In the business field I've used the "mechanical" aspects many times as they translate over from our cars to business skills. And almost every employer is happy to know their employee is not afraid to tackle the most daunting, gritty tasks without hesitation. I've had a conversation tangent in almost every interview since college that dove into my passion for cars in some regard, and every time it amounted positively. And it never hurts to drive the Z to the interview :p
