| I've done it again :( - made you guys want to spend more money on more upgrades. I am totally shocked with the gains !!!! I've had water injection for years but never used it as a power adder or alturnative fuel source. I have only used it as a buffer to make sure in hot weather or overboost situations that I never detonated. Since Specialty Z was coming back to the East Coast (Hi Greg / Seb !) from a recent tuning trip in St.Louis - I wanted to take advtange of the a tune for water injection. Below are the results !!!!
IMHO, this should be an upgrade for any turbo car. Cheaper than race gas and the numbers are practically identical. I will tell you that this isn't any ordinary fluid. As Seb called it, it's Tony's secret sauce (Tony Myrie setup the dyno tuning session). I've been using the fluid for over a year -no seals in my water injection kit leaked with this fluid. I have seen other fluids that are methanol based cause o-ring failures in the h20 kits. Tony's secret sauce outperformed boost juice !! There are other water kits on the market, but I use the Snow Performance kit that Z1 sells. Maybe someone can talk them into a black Friday sale. From talking with Greg / Seb - it's crucial to have some safety measures installed with your kit to prevent an engine failure. This is the 1 thing that I will be focussing on over the next few months. I've got a few options -1) install safe injection and use the trigger to cut power to the boost controller 2) install teh JMS knock box that SZ uses to cut back timing.
Since I plan to use water injection as a power adder, I definitely will start to include more safety into the system. A good solid install is equally important as well. A nice benefit to using water injection is that you don't need to go all out to upgrade your fuel system ( second pump / fuel rail / second fuel line ) as the injection into the intake stream serves as a second fuel source. SZ pulls fuel in the tuning process.
