Even with compression numbers you never really know if an engine has been used/abused in it's life. The bearings (especially rod ones) are notorious for taking a beating and are prone to oil starvation. I had a TT with 67K that I thought "must be perfect because of the low mileage and looked clean as can be" - flash forward a year and the motor/turbos were complete shit (low compression/wiped bearings). I'm now thousands more into the project then I wanted to be. It can all escalate very quickly... Be careful and figure on at least cracking the pan and replacing the main/rod bearings for good measure.
