| ....at least in the 17" sizes. I am on my 2nd set after being so satisfied with the first. It doesn't sound like you plan to do much track time, if any at all, on your next set of tires. So, to me, it seems the logical priorities would be; comfort/quiet, longetivity, grip.....not necessarily in that order. I personally don't know of too many tires in the "ultra-high performance" category that offer poor "grip" when it comes to street driving so I often wonder what it is that people specifically are in need of when they say they want "good grip". However if you buy a tire that is designed to last 80k miles, then you can expect to have the least traction, and vice versa. As for the Eagle F1's.....I was impressed by how quiet they ride, and the first set lasted me approx 20k miles. But I dont thrash the car on public streets, only at the track, so they were treaded on fairly lightly in normal driving, however I do boost as often as possible although not much in 1st gear. having a traction control system installed to limit wheelspin may also have a lot to do with my results. As for traction aka "grip", well I never left a track day at the Nurburgring, Spa-Francorchamps, Hallet, MSR Ft Worth or any other closed circuit driving event feeling that my tires were a let down. There are definitely better tires out there to buy if you really plan to be on the track a lot and want maximum grip, but otherwise for recreational jaunts a few times a year, these tires are perfectly fine and up to the task. The current set of 245's & 275's, I bought last year from Luke @ Tire Rack for ~$840 shipped, pretty much the best deal you are going to find for this quality of tire. The deal you can find is going to depend on your size, I wouldnt get too caught up in the brand choice game.
"What a curiosity our new political correctness has made of our public spaces. Let your sex tape loose on the Internet and be rewarded with your own TV show; photograph a crucifix in a jar of urine and our museums will vie to exhibit it; occupy someone else’s property and you will be hailed by the president for your keen social conscience.
