The Z was a bigger, heavier, 6 cyl sports car to replace it in the Datsun Sports line. Entry level price for the competition of the day, not an entry level design from Nissan, however. Cheaper than the Jag, but with the performance to back it up. Roadsters had 4's 240SX's had 4's Z's never have, nor should they ever. Part of what makes up a Z car.
