But with the switch unplugged, now what was the point of the switch to begin with?

This is why I grounded pin 44 from the ECU as I was unable to set my timing to the base timing in DataScan being 25. Is this a setting conducted by the ECU (still running generic ash tune for AT) or the ACU? Will unplugging the ACU help me out in any case?
