| My opinon is fix it. Yes you will have to invest more $$, but in the end you will have one of the best driving, best looking cars around. I had the same situation where I had no compression (due to a bad mechanics work) had the option to sell it, replace the motor, or rebuild it. I wanted to keep the car for a very long time so I rebuilt it. Since then I have had numerous other issues but have never looked back. The other great thing about busting it open to replace the bearing is you can double check everything else while it's apart. Money is a problem for me also as I don't make a whole lot and just bought a brand new house. My solution to that was to do the work myself. I was real "car stupid" 6-7 years ago but after my recent intake cam gear upgrade, and previous experiance doing a plenum pull I am now pretty confident I can do anything on this car given enough time. This has saved me THOUSANDS in labor costs, and it's really not as hard as it looks. With the info on this site and a good set of tools there isn't much you couldn't do yourself. I now have OVER $30,000 invested in my Z and plan to be buried with it hah. Nothing aside from it catching fire and burning to the ground would make me sell it. The great thing is you already have a solid block. If you just spun a bearing then that's minor compared to what COULD have happened. It also will not require completely new internals. Most will recommend upgrades while you have the engine apart due to ease of installiation, but if money is tight just fix what's broke and enjoy the car. One word of caution.. If you spun a bearing on your first day in boost, take it easy. Are you running a boost controller or just letting the turbos go buck wild? Stock turbos? Keep it under 15psi MAX if your running stock parts or injectors. Next time it will be much more damage then a spun bearing. Learn more about the car (like why you had no boost one day and boost the next) before you start flooring it on the open road. These cars are old and need plenty of TLC to be reliable.
