Looking for tires for my 18x8.5 and 18x10 wheels. Currently run 245/40-18 and 275/35-18 Falken RT-615’s. Looking for something that has better dry grip than the 615’s. Having wet traction is important also, as I drive the Z to work sometimes (17 miles each way), and if I get caught in the rain I don’t want a white knuckle drive, or worse. Right now Michelin Pilot Super Sports are #1 on my list. I’ve got the PSS’s (255/40-18) on my XJR, and really like them, but the Jag is a totally different animal than the Z. I’m just wondering if I should consider something like the 555r, etc, for the Z. Wear life isn’t an issue, the Falkens still have tread left but have heat cycled and hardened after 4 or 5 years. I only drive ~2,000 miles a year in the Z. Absolute max would be 4,000 miles, maybe. I want as much dry traction as I can get, but don’t want to sacrifice cornering ability, ride quality, noise, and wet traction. Impossible, I know. That’s why I’m leaning towards the PSS’s; they seem to be the best compromise of traction and civility. I figure if I *really* want dry traction I can buy a set of dedicated 18” drag radials and swap them on for some occasional fun next summer. But I really think it would be a bad idea to get any kind of drag radial and then drive the Z to work as the weather starts to turn cooler, and through the winter. Suggestions? Thanks,
