(Turbo Related) Ben busy lately (work & Z build) but still try to make it on when I can. Someone posted recently all upset at Z1 for not doing a good job rebuilding their turbo's after early failure occurred. A lot chimed in asking if he had installed the oil feds correctly. I too did not know that the stock lines had restrictions in them and that the RH banjo fitting was unique. My last build was on the road for just over a year and after pulling it down I found my RH turbo basically frozen and the LH (just spotted this evening) has enough shaft play to where the compressor wheel is slightly skimming the housing causing a slight zinging sound when spun (if you hold your ear close). My failures I'm sure were due to having the RH banjo fitting on the LH side. Double restriction causing a lack of oil flow resulting in the shaft play. I found RTV sealant pieces in one of the coolant banjo fittings on the RH turbo. As well as I was using the CZP SS oil line which had no restrictions. I don't think that the lack of oil restriction on the RH side had time to do damage but the coolant restriction def messed things up. I have a new CHRA on the way for the RH side but I'm not taking a chance with the LH so I'll be ordering another. Here's a pic of the big dog as she sits now. Apart from the turbos being off and now the heat shields will be getting a silver coating as well.
