| Kuah has written about this many times and has always maintained between the costs of filing a patent, the lead time on getting the stamp of approval, the difficulty of demonstrating the unique nature of some parts and the extra cost imposed on the product for having said patent makes it an exercise in futility. And that's just to get the patent number. Enforcement in court is difficult and expensive at the best of times, especially when dealing with a company in another country. Frankly if a guy like Kuah, who I think can be recognized as a Pretty Smart Dude, decides it's not worth it then it's probably not. It would be great if everyone had the resources to enforce the law and protect their ideas but ultimately it comes down to a pretty simple business decision and you still got to eat at some point.
