Message prior to trying to re-bed-in the brakes.

Exactly how best to do this I couldnt say. I have read a 3M scotchbrite pad plus an air drill on the rotors will get it clean. Also to take high temp / race pads and do one or two hard brakings from 40mph or so while cold to scrub them clean

I also read that you can clean the pads by scraping them on rough concrete or taking a sander to them but they have to be done evenly so that they contact the rotor evenly afterwards.

I and everyone I know have had issues getting good brake bed-ins when following that procedure, which is the standard method. My only guess is that it isn't being done well enough. Last time I tried to re-bed in my pads I followed this procedure until I could smell the brakes from the driver's seat, and it seems to have worked. I have also seen a few videos on the web from trackdays where guys bedded the pads in on the track by riding the brakes while driving. How hard they ride them I don't know but it seems to be an easier alternative to slamming on the brakes on public roads almost to a stop, plus it seems to accomplish the same goal of heating up the brakes so that pad material transfers
