Only a couple of vendors sell tunes/chips for the 95. If you want to have a true tune you will wind either with Nistune or swapping out the ECU itself for an earlier year (which fortunately you can do). JWT and Ashspec do have 95 chips. The year you buy really depends on what you want to do with it. If you want to admire and polish it for the next 40 years until it goes up in value and your grandchildren can inherit it and sell it or rag on it, then get a low mileage 96 commemmorative, and store it. If you want to modify for your own enjoyment (eg, make a fast car), then either a 94 or 95 are fine (or for that matter any year with some upgrades would be fine--I personally like the dual airbags of the 94+). There is absolutely nothing wrong with the 96, if you just want a nice, fun car to drive around without modifications and dont need to be the fastest guy on the block. You can still dress it up however you like. At the end of the day, the best car is the one that has been well- maintained and cared for. I believe most on this list will agree with this last statement, especially those who have gotten in over their heads with cars that may have been neglected at some point.
