This hasnt failed me yet if I cant just press it in by hand. I take a rag put it around the dip stick tube, then a large vise grips with enough pressure to hold it but not crush it. So i wrap the tube then over that clamp down the vise grips. I then take a heavy rubber mallet and with everything in line start pounding on the vise grips at the point nearest the tube without damagin the tube. It works best if you clamp it towards the bottom. I little bit of using your best judgement is involved.
