Message Welded a little extra material to the downpipe flange for one end, used a long stud in a motor mount hole for the other. So it's not welded to anything. But yes, if it were welded it should be the same material.

But like I said, the newer ones don't use a brace at all. I don't believe they even have gussets on them, which I disagree with, but they have been holding up for years, so whatever.

What are Supra, SR20, RB, etc etc guys doing? That's what I'm getting at - they all use looong equal length tubulars with turbos most Z guy wouldn't even think about, and I haven't heard much about cracking issues. Heard is the key word, of course.
