I have played with tuning both MAF and MAP based systems, and in all reality, skipping all the theoretical crap that gets tossed around here, MAP is superior, period. the accuracy level of a MAF is futile for the intent of tuning and performance gains. There is more to be gained from a MAP setup than MAF, so if someone had to pick a route for gains, MAP would beat MAF like a red headed step child all day.

Lets use a simple example that most here can relate to:

2 Z's with similar supporting mods tuned to 500rwhp, 1 MAF, 1 MAP. Both @ the same boost level

I could bet the title to my Z that the power curve for the MAP based system will be better.

Why? Simple put, you don't have a MAF sensor blocking your intake amongst other things.

That will always translate to more torque, rwhp, faster spool, etc...etc...

How much better? That will be case by case for each car, but all things equal, the MAP will produce a better power curve than the same tuned car on a MAF system.

Sort of like how breather mods helped out torque, and power across the board by reducing restrictions in the system, providing a larger volume of air density flow, etc... Same general principle applies here.. MAP will delete the MAF crap from restricting your intake.. In fact, you could fabricate a improved 2.5" intake piping kit to eliminate all of the bends, and run a more efficient intake system MAF free :)
