This total invoice which was just short of $22K included parts, labor, taxes, and shop supplies. As you can see from the list, the vast majority of the cost is for new performance parts, that the customer owns and are still perfectly fine. All and all we spent nearly 100 hours on the build and testing of the car. We put several hundred miles on the car as well as put it on the dyno before it left to verify proper power delivery and safe air fuel ratios. Once again, the car left Z1 in good working order. Whether you agree or disagree with our policy, we clearly don't guarantee anything more than that.

To clarify our position for those criticizing it, we do stand behind our work out of good faith when fault is clearly our own. However it is at our discretion and up an individual to trust our judgment before contracting us for work. If we perform a proper 60K and the timing belt slips a few weeks later, we would consider that our problem and make it right with the customer regardless of our policy. It's safe to assume that something like that would most likely be due to improper installation and there aren't really any probable circumstances out of our control that would lead us to believe otherwise. We intend to treat customers fairly and take responsibility where it is due.

In circumstances like this, it is also a judgment call. Even though we claim to offer no warranties or guarantees, and delivered the parts and services as paid for, we are still offering to repair the car at half price, which is a loss for us. We barely break even on larger ticket service jobs when we charge our regular rates. Regardless if the invoice was 10K, 22K, or 75K, it all relative to how much the parts and services cost us. We make more profit on a few smaller installs than we do on these big time consuming projects and the liability and expectations are unreasonable regardless of how much we explain and disclaim ourselves. When someone spends a lot of money on their car with us and something goes wrong (regardless of what it is, what the cause is, or who is to blame) they are going to be very upset and usually blame us. It simply isn't worth the trouble of defending anymore - just as many of our competitors would agree. That's why as of today, we will not entertain big Z32 builds for the public. Of course we will remain the world's #1 source for Z32 parts, as well as smaller repairs, maintenance, upgrades, as well as tuning. We've continued to build big Z32 projects for customers out of our love and ability for accomplishing them but not for profit. At this point we have enough of our own high powered Z32s here to tinker with. We prefer to sell customers the parts and encourage them to do the work themselves. We will be removing twin turbo conversion services and the like from our website by the end of the day.

In this particular situation Z1 Motorsports delivered what was paid for and I would challenge anyone that claims the price was not fair for the list parts and services that were provided and received.
