If the regulator is holding the pressure to a specific psi and bleeding the excess pressure into the return line and that is just returned to the tank then how could a return line be too large . I can understand how the return can be too small , like if you have two pumps then the excess pressure is too much to push through the return line fast enough so it backs up . I am starting my fuel line upgrade from inner tank to fuel rail also , nothing big like you but id like a better understanding of the system now that you have raised the question .
