Message This type of build has it's disadvantages, as well as advantages. Let's not argue ;)

Anyway, I'm preparing a remote turbo build on my '90 NA. I'd like to think I'm taking a more thoughtful 'ground up' approach.

I intend to use a Holset variable vane turbo from a 6.7L cummins turbodiesel; which is on the bench right now. The HOPE is to eventually control the size of the exhaust housing electronically based upon throttle position, pressure, and rpm. The turbo also has a hall effect sensor to sense turbine speed which may be interesting as well.

I have rebuilt my NA motor with TT pistons for obvious reasons (hopefully will give it a first start soon in NA form). 370cc injectors installed. My exhaust now has a crossover from the passenger side over to the drivers side over the tranny and is single 2 1/2 back where it will taper down to 2" last mile into the turbo. Yes, I actually got it all back together with a homemade crossover in there (had doubts there!). I started with oe NA manifolds. The exhaust will be 90% heat wrapped, with focus on velocity and heat retention rather than flow.

The cold charge pipe will occupy the space where the exhaust used to be on the passenger side.

I'll start with the standard TT program in the ECU.

The goal? - who knows? I suffer from 'tinker-itus'. If it's a dreadful failure I'll just grab a set of TT manifolds and turbos and make it more factory like. LOL.

I'll post about it when I feel it's appropriate. Go ahead, shoot me :S

NA - someday to be a remote mount variable vane single turbo = "300ZXRRVVST"
