Yes you can replace the K/S with engine/transmission on the car. You need to pull the upper/lower plenum, and remove the upper idler pulley from the front of the engine. You will need to reset you timing belt after, just as you were doing a timing belt job. If you have the EGR removed, it makes life easier. But if you have a knock sensor issue, get Bernie's knock sensor relocation kit, until you can pull everything off and replace it in the factory location.
