AFAIK, it wasn’t illegal to have a gray market car, but it’s not street legal. And if it’s been titled illegally titled, FE vin swapped with 240sx/J30/maxima it can be seazed. And if it was issues a vin that was supposed to be used for an R33.

A friend HAD an R32, that was titled via Canada, just like my 89 Z32 was, but he got rid of it and cashed out and moved on to something else JUST incase ICE decided to take it.

But yeah, ONLY certain year R33s are federally legal. States are a totally different matter.
