I bought a built engine. The engine seems like it was very well built and it runs strong. However, my VTC doesn't work and it seems to me it's because the VTC check valves were not installed on the JWT 400+ cams. I can manually activate the VTC by grounding the green/black wire. I can hear the actuators click, however, nothing changes while at idle such as RPM, timing, etc. So all I can figure is that means the check valves were not installed. My questions are: 1. Is my logic correct in thinking that is the problem since the solenoids activate, they just don't make a difference? 2. Where can I get a set of VTC check valves? 3. What is the installation process? Obviously plenum off and top valve covers off. Will I need to remove the cams? 4. Does anyone have a picture of what these check valves look like? Thanks
