Message but a 7lb flywheel made of a single strand of carbon fiber that can deliver equivalent to 150 hp boost that lasts up to 10+ seconds I believe. Obviously case and torque blending equipment add to the weight, I think I read the whole system weighs about 80lbs though. Another example is New hybrid's from Mazda that do use electric motors, but have chemical capacitors instead of a battery.

Not all hybrid's are like a prius and efficiency is a huge part of motorsports. If you can do the same with less, than you can do more with the same.
