You've mentioned individual responsibility multiple times in this thread alone yet that goes out the window as soon we're talking about a group of people just because the group has a noble goal? So they don't have to be responsible individuals because they help people? If I raise money for the Red Cross does it matter if I get it from people stealing from the American Lung Foundation? If the official line of the leadership is "eh, fuck it" then that's a pretty clear signal to the other individuals in the group that that particular issue isn't important. The ZCCA doesn't have to mount a crusade to end knock offs but there should be a clear message that such things are discouraged. That's how you influence the culture of a group to become better. Which isn't even touching that an easy way to kill small car clubs is to have a stagnant scene in terms of innovation and achievement. Just look at GT-Rs and muscle cars, both out of production for more than a minute and both still vibrant and interesting because people keep doing interesting and amazing things with them which throws off innovative new parts.
