Message I bought a titanium key from Dave a couple months ago and the day before yesterday I finally took it to Nissan to have it cut. Since I didn't know whether or not I had the right key code, I had them cut a standard key to make sure it was the right code. After verifying the key code, I then gave the parts guy my titanium key to have cut. After 10 minutes he came back with the key.

Unfortunately, the machine cut to deep in one area and poorly cut the tip of the key. We both looked at the key and compared it to the other and came to the conclusion that it most likely would not work. Despite this, I still tried to pay the $8 fee for having the key cut. However, the parts manager refused to charge me in chase the key didn't work. He then gave me his card and told me to "call [him] if there are any problems." I tried the key on the Z after cleaning off some excess metal but it failed to work. I also tried calling the parts manager this afternoon, but he is off today.

So, I'm wondering what all you would do? Since this is a non original key does Nissan have to replace it? Since the parts manager refused payment is he and the dealership not liable? I haven't talked to the parts manager yet, however, I'd like to get some idea about how this all can play out and what I can do. Also, to prevent ruining another key either from the dealership or out of my pocket, does anyone know somewhere that can handle the job guaranteed?

Thank you for any help and I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.
