Message	answer for non expansion downpipes. So, either you've pulled/installed many engines without expansion downpipes, or you've got a trick that isn't obvious. You can see from the photos below (taken such that you can see where the DPs would fall) that there is clearly overlap from the downpipes that would hit the steering u-joint. There was no room to move the engine forward at all with the AC condenser installed.
