| items.... It has has historically been my understanding that items which are auctioned / raffled off during closing dinner at ZCon have been signed by Mr. K. for that purpose, secondly that the proceeds from those auctioned items are donated to a charity of Mr. K's choosing ( i *think* its been the Make a Wish foundation in years past). I think you would agree that there is difference in Mr. K using his signature on memorabilia for the purpose of charity fund raising is totally different then somebody "selling" for their own gain. I have had the fortune of attending several ZCons when Mr. K was still able to travel and I have watched him sign countless items for Z owners - everything from whole cars, to body panels to badges to random pieces of hotel stationary for *anyone* who asks. I don't think I have ever seen someone not been able to get his item signed by Mr K. at some point during the course of a Zcon. I have seen him sign stuff for *hours*, always pleasant and generous w. hand shakes, pictures and some conversation. It's truly a humbling site to see, when you realize that a man of his history is not only able but actually willing to put up w. our needy shit the way he does. When I meet him on my trip to Japan in 2007, he was actually surprised when I didn't present him with something to sign - I has to explain that I already had several prized items signed by him over the years and that I very much appreciated each of them. I was more then content with a hand shake. I appreciate the items I have which Mr. K signed not because they are worth this much or that much. I have them because they are reminders of meeting such an important person and of his ideals about cars and people.
