My car has been sitting at a shop having work done and its drive-able. The only problem is that the shop is moving and the alternator is out of the car. I want to take my car home while the shop is moving because i know this is a time consuming process. Can i drive on just battery juice and no alternator? its a 10 mile drive. Also, someone told me that if the alternator is out, the belt driving the water pump is also off since its the same belt. Any way to rig the water pump so it stays on for the drive? I looked for writeups on how to install an alternator but i cant lift the car. Any suggestions, i dont want to tow the car but if thats the only way, i guess ill have to.
