Message The reason software such as NDS has a fast and slow method is because you can receive corrupted data while downloading a bin file due to miscommunication in the data. The more data you request at once, the more chance for a data failure. The slower way is supposed to be more accurate.

This is caused by two things. One is caused by the latency in communication of the data. The data will become out of sync. When this happens the software will think that a piece of data being received will belong to the current request when it is actually a part of a previous request. The data saved is then inaccurate.

The other thing is EMI noise. It can cause corrupt data. After many test with different interfcaes and after talking to the people at PLMS I highly recommend the PLMS USB interface over any other. Not only does the interface have drivers which let you adjust the latency setting, but the interfcae itself has improved filtering for EMI problems.

And just to let you know, my new to be released bin file downloader (below post) is bullet proof in that it monitors the data using a piece of the data as a checksum. If the checksum is not correct, the software will continue to request data from the current address where the miscommunication took place and only write data to the file after the correct data has been received.
