| Well, I wasn't really planning on going. I already had spent a few days in Savannah in the Spring when it was NICE weather and just as it turned into it's normal hot and humid hell. Plus I lived just south of Macon for 7 years so I knew all about the swamp ass feeling and no breeze GA gets... Plus this years convention just seemed like it was a train wreck waiting to happen. But Bernie, the NoVa folks, and some of the SA folks shamed me into going. Online Registration for the convention took forever to open. Usually it's Dec or Jan ... The publicity for this thing was non-existent. For the Convention AFTER one of the largest Zcons in a while, it as pretty disappointing. Who would have known Bob Sharp would have shone up? I feel really bad for some of the event staff. Seemed there were only a few folks that knew what was going on and could actually do anything. Registration at the hotel was a cluster.. Unless you pre-register at full price or just paid in full there… they had no readily accessible record of it. I was able to pull it up on my phone in a couple of mins but then stood around for an hour for someone, ANYONE to get on their paypal and verify that I had paid in Feb. During that time about 6 folks came in and where either walk-in registration or adding things on to their plans. Really felt like all they cared about was taking in money, but once they got it, they didn’t give a crap. They knew the software had dropped some of the early pre-register and made no effort to get this squared away.. Really, I could see this situation on a Sun or Mon of the week, but not Wed morning. The hotel, convention center, track, and the ferry to the mainland was all in a great location and very convenient. Thou the rooms them selves sucked. But the hotel is banking you just use the rooms to sleep in and to spend all your time in their $6 a beer bar, or on the golf course, or over the river in Savannah. Which the ferry is a great idea/concept, but when the ferry conductor is a douche bag ass hole and bitches and gripes about being on time and makes a big deal, you would think when the pick up time is midnight, he would be there at midnight. Not shoving off 10 till while you are on your way back too it. I wont even get into the disgust of seeing all the AMS copied parts including SPL’s brand new HICAS elimination brackets on a huge table in the middle of the registration room, or the lack of items for sale for this event. I was happy for hat pins, thou. Again the convention center and track where awesome! And how convenient everything was really makes up for a lot of the epic short comings of everything else. So yes, there is a Silver lining to the epic fail. On to the pics..
AMS : Helping Honda owners afford a Z32, one China copied part at a time.
Proud to be AMS free. Every penny spent on AMS junk, reduces R&D on new parts for our cars.
