Message :if you are regularly changing your oil filter like you are supposed to, and are using a known trustable brand, then how is turbo-failure-causing stuff going to get into your oil to begin with?
:Assuming it somehow still can escape the already-there filter, then would it not simply clog up some small filter at either turbo, resulting in starvation/damage/failure anyway??
:Admittedly I know nothing about the design of what you refer to, but in my imagination these are the first things that come to mind.

Well...

I put two new gt2560r turbos on my car at the same time and one of them seized in about 15k miles. I talked to several reputable turbo repair companies and they all said they have seen this numerous times, and it is typically because a piece of trash gets through into the bearings and galls them, therefore seizing the turbo. I know Ash has run filters on his BB turbos for 5 years or so and has never had a bearing failure.

The filters I used are a cartridge type with a metal screen that take about 2 minutes to open up and clean out at oil change time. I think it makes a lot of sense considering that the turbos are about a grand a piece to replace, (600 or so for the CHRA if you go that route), to spend a hundred bucks and a few extra minutes when you change the oil as insurance that you wont have to replace the turbo again.
