Definitely the Pioneer is a high end SQL unit, but expensive. Compares to the OLD Clarion DRZ9255. The Old Clarion units were super, with all the functions you can imagine. But time goes by and modern technology and different formats are being used. I would say Alpine is a decent head unit. The Alpine 9887 was a good head unit, with enough features to tune your music. If your are looking for IPOD then go with the X305S, but you will not have the real SQL features. I personally use OLD Clarion head units, they kick butt, still to this day. I've had Denon, Nakamichi,Alpine, Pioneer, Eclipse; and the Clarions were nicer for SQL. Now all the gear is more towards ipod and video features. Very few have the real SQL features of the past.
