Message I'm sure you remember me selling off tons of parts from my old Z in Japan after I wrecked it. I was in Japan so I was limited in the size and weight of the items shipped to the states but it was still a headache.

1) You will find that there are a lot of flakes. Do not hold parts for anybody. If more than one person wants it, whoever paypals you first gets it.

2) If you are concerned about money being frozen, withdraw the money after you receive it. It will take a few days but it is worth it if you are really concerned. Thankfully, I did not encounter anybody who was scummy like this. However, it never hurts to review their post history before selling them a part. Check out the other forums as well in case they post over there. Discretion goes a long way.

3) Be prepared to become a master sorter. Things will get unorganized quickly if you truly intend to do this on a large scale. I recommend putting things in boxes but taking an inventory of each box. I marked a number on the side of each box and then marked the corresponding paper before filing them away. This helped clear up clutter that would otherwise be scattered on the floor but also helps for quick reference should you need to ship a part.

4) That being said, I recommend pulling whatever you can up front and storing them instead of pulling them as you sell them. The latter will get tiring and you might find yourself delayed in shipping because you won't have time to pull it.

5) People are cheap. Be prepared for lowball offers. Sometimes, it just must be done. I've skipped a lowball offer but then all the real offers backed out on me and I was left with nothing but a part that nobody wanted anymore.

6) I still have parts from my old Z that I have not been able to get rid of 5 years later.

There is tons more but I hope some of this helps a little.

Never Play Leapfrog With A Unicorn!!!

Do yourself a favor and just worry about your own car. I don't see what everyone is so worried about anyway. If someone else wants to perform a modification that you believe will destroy the value, cheapen the Z32 or whatever you can't sit on your hands about, wouldn't that make your tastefully-modified, white bread Z32 more rare and valuable? -- BradZ (FL) on December 23, 2007 at 12:19 PM
