Prolly should have given the owner the option of leaving it till the 1st or towing it to a different location given the situtation. It sucks, cause it seems like you tried to do the responsible thing and have it done no matter what. I'd say finish the car, appologize for the mix up, and explain your intentions, and possible lack of communication, (chock it up to too much stuff going on at one time) show the owner you ment well by finishing the car as said, then say " i have x$ into it, but i understand you might not wanna pay it". If they're square, they'll pay or pay atleast half, once you're done with the deal, decided whether you wanna deal with that person again.Be more carful next time.... $$ up front.
