Message After reading so many posts by people who have removed the EGR system with the motor in the car, I decided to delve into the project myself. I had the plenum off for new injectors and the trans off for a rear engine crankshaft seal. Needless to say this was not any fun and I do not recommend doing this job with the engine in. The picture shows all the parts that comprise the Exhaust Gas Recirculation System. Perhaps the pricipal reason to delete this system is the input of carbon particles into the engine. Carbon is a very hard substance. In Harleys (I have opened many), carbom pits the valve seats and the seating surfaces of the valves, reducing compression and power. I am sure this crap also causes undo wear to the cylinder walls and rings. The system only works when the engine is not under load so it does not hamper power. In the Zee, it seems to have been added after-the-fact, as every new car has a cast gallery in the cylinder head rather than an external system.
