Message take time to do if you want them done right. All of us know how a deadline can affect the final outcome as compared to if something were done without a time constraint. Getting things done "in the crunch" usually results in poor craftsmanship that ultimately will create even more delays as the problems with the previous work cascade forward through the rest of the processes following.

I'm sure you've seen the complaints that AshSPEC isn't always timely in getting things done. Bottom line is that I wont take shortcuts and it will take whatever amount of time it takes to do it right.

Unfortunately only the OEM turbochargers are designed from the factory to be a bolt on part. All other turbos are made from a generic production with very few options for flange type, actuator bracket design, etc etc, and in order to fit them for a particular application it is going to require modification. In the case of the Z32, all of the Garrett turbochargers require modification of the compressor inlet, reclocking of the housings, and actuator bracket fabrication.

With the recent availability of the new inlet pipe system an additional complication to the application-specific modifications has been created. If you want the best flow you have to modify the compressor housing inlet.

What we may do is offer a core exchange program for a few of the most common compressor housings. And then at that, there is no real need to actually buy turbochargers from any other company other than Garrett since we could also supply the actuator brackets as well. With the modified housings and actuator brackets, anyone could purchase the garrett turbo of their choice from anywhere and simply purchase the core exchange comp housings and actuator brackets and be set to go. The only other mods would be extending the actuator rods and clocking the housings.

FWIW, you can usually buy a GT2860RS from Garrett for around $950. All you need is the modified comp housing and actuator brackets to tailor it to the Z32. So add another $165 for the comp housing mod from us plus the ~$50 for the actuator brackets, plus another $50 for the modified actuators, another $30 for machining the backplate to add the o-ring seat + orings, and you're set. ~$2195.

I've never really gotten into selling turbos due to the huge financials required to build inventory. But this process of us purchasing only housings, backplates, orings, and actuators and selling those items as a complete kit would likely work out a lot better for the customer as well as the business.

If any member reading this would be interested in having us offer this kind of kit, please let us know.
