Message	Like DaZedMan said, once the lugs are tightened the rings shouldn't see any load, at least not enough to make material choice matter. I've had the plastic rings that shipped with my SSRs since 2003. They still look new and still center the wheel on the hub as much as I can tell without actually measuring.
