The Chinese knockoff's definitely have a part in that. I do think another reason is the selection of cars today as well. Not exactly sure how it affects HKS USA, but in Japan the tuner scene looks nothing like it did 10 years ago. Each time I go to Japan, I love to go to SuperAutoBacs in Chiba and check out what is new. In 2001 they had RX7's, Supras, Sylvia's, GTR's, STI's, you name it. From about 2006 to even this last trip I took two weeks ago their sales floor was full of small econoboxes similar to the Nissan Cube and Scion XB. I know this is not the reason for HKS USA leaving, but all in all the selection of Japanese supercars has thinned greatly.
