Message keep in mind that they will only produce large batches or production runs of a single product. Nissan does not actually make the tail lights if I remember correctly. They are produced under contract of Nissan by another manufacturer (its stamped on the lights somewhere). They generally become scarce at different times of the year due to these production cycles. Nissan may only order X number of units to be produced. If that quantity is depleted faster than expected, or if the quantity brought into the US is spent, it will take some time before stocks can be replenished.

Things like the tsunami/earthquake will come into play as well. I can only assume that Nissan will be focusing on rebuilding its inventory of whatever was lost during the tsunami. Replacement parts for older models like the Z32 will probably take a back seat during this time.

Crash parts like tail lights will stay in production much longer than interior parts or odd ball brackets, etc.
