So i've been looking at dyno sheets at my tuning shop and online in videos etc. I see cars put down close to 800 hp and only about 600 ft/lb of torque.. or 700hp and still only 600 ft/lb my question is this... if what i know is true, it is torque that gets a car going. how come people dont shoot for big torque gains but instead like big hp ratings. and also, why is there less torque than power produced. is it simply friction and stuff out of our control or something else mechanically linked? im an engineering student and was just curious. thanks in advance
