I'm building a new engine for my Z, to do track days with, as am wondering if there are any of you folks out there that have been testing the upper limits of useable RPMs? My plans include replacing the crankshaft, rods and Dry sump oiling. Still trying to locate sources for these items except rods which I plan on using Carrillo. As far as heads go, I've ported my set of heads, and am reasonably pleased with the results. (272 cfm @ 28" wc, 22% improvement over stock) There are a few more things that I am still considering as far as modifications to the heads, however I'm a bit concerned about durablity, so I have not incorporated those particular changes yet. This is a road race motor, so durablity is extremely important. Do the JWT mechanical lifter springs incorporate a dampner between the inner and outer springs? Do the JWT cams produce significant torque and horsepower above 7,000 rpm? Should the oil passages to the cam bearings be enlarged to support additional oil flow to the cams at high RPMs? Source for Dry Sump Oil System?
