out it isnt any one single thing, but a handful of reasons, and every single one of them has the hallmark of government interference written on it. Whether it be regulations choking off production/refinement/drilling, devaluing of the currency, punitive taxation, etc etc.....when government gets involved in markets the outcome is always a mess. The US Constitution clearly outlines what the feds can and cannot get involved in, the more the feds ignore it, the worse things get. Have you even read it? It is not ambiguous. After reading the US Constitution, I encourage everyone to read about the final years of the Soviet Union. There is a reason it just sort of happened and almost no attention was paid to the why or how in our educational system, as if it wasn't even worth inquiring over, much less teach about.
