Don't get me wrong, I see what you're saying about variables, not knowing for sure, etc. Much like how you decided it was safe, all others can do in situations like these is gather as many data points as possible and try to make an informed decision. It's very clear that you have enough points to put your mind at ease, as do others. My point was that unlike the pulley "debate", there's still a reasonable research avenue open to Joe-Schmoe-Z32-owner if they aren't sold on the "it hasn't been an issue for me" benchmark.
