... well really fast. Hit the former on the pole piece just once wit enough force and it will never sound the same. 
My Focals would smash the plastic trim if I ran them full range, full volume. But I don't, as they're filtered between 90Hz and 5kHz. And the gain is turned down relative to the front channels. There's still plenty of cone motion between 90 and 300Hz, but I've played the system as loud as I'd ever play it with the covers off, and they don't hit. They're really just used for rear fill. In which case, 4x6" could do the same job just as effectively. I already had the 90 enclosures though, because my car is a 90. The most effective solution, IMHO, if you're going to run full range is to make your own MDF top plate for the Bose enclosures (whatever year, doesn't matter). The only real issue with this is the depth of your speaker is very limited.
