Message	my thoughts were the same as yours in going to a smaller orifice. The stock ones used as is are plenty and have never seemed to give any of the engines Nissans engineered or designed any issues. I've yet to speak with anyone from Tomei regarding why they feel its needed to run this additional piece but I would merely remove the stock one and replace with a brand new one.
