Message is standard procedure for checking the condition of the rings. With the compression increase you note I would suspect the rings are worn in that cylindere.

The excess gas in the manifold is not normal. Look into the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel modulator diaphrams for possible leaking fuel. These are easy to check by seeing if they hold a vacuum applied by mouth with a short hose attached to them. If they are bad it will effect fuel pressure and performance.

Do a vacuum test with the engine running. Place a vacuum gage on a nipple at the balance tube. Run engine at idle, gage should be a very steady needle at about 19" Hg and a very steady needle at about 20" Hg holding 2000 rpm. Unsteady needle could mean leaky valves.
