| They normally do not really look for cats.. even though they say they do.. they are usually looking for leaks etc. However; Get your old heat shields and use large hose clamps to hold them to your test pipes. That way you still "have cats in place" As for the AFC.. I used to just demand the idle test. Which is somthing the customer can request. Tell them you do not want anyone else driving your car. They will do an idle sniffer test. I just adjusted the AFC a few points of correctiveness DOWN while in idle.. Do it just about where you feel the engine stumble a bit. Then do two correctiveness points UP from there. Do the test. pass. put it back to your original settings. Also.. if you are nervous about doing it that way.. those Guaranteed to pass fuel additives.. do actually work.. even with no cats.. Its just more a gamble that way. I have passed all my performance cars with no cats installed at all.. 3" turbo back exhausts, Using the AFC.
